A group of 10 from University of Wisconsin Eau Claire had a Japanese tour under GXA arrangement. They all were from Sports trainer’s course, so the aim of the visit was to learn about the Japanese sports trainer education.   It was a short  4days trip, but they took advantage of the opportunity at the maximum. They all had a lot of experience that they can only have in Japan.

Shamisen is one of the Japanese traditional music instruments. They not only listened the play, but also tried to play the instrument by themselves.

Then, they went to Asakusa where an atmosphere of the Tokyo of past decades survives. Asakusa’s main attraction is Sensoji, a very popular Buddhist temple, built in the 7th century. The temple is approached via the Nakamise, a shopping street that has been providing temple visitors with a variety of traditional, local snacks and tourist souvenirs for centuries.

Students rented Kimono and walked the street in Kimono. They also had a chance to try learning Japanese calligraphy with a brush.

On day 2, they visited Kokushikan University and attended the lecture for sports trainers, and exchanged opinions with Japanese students. They also visited Sumo club and tried Sumo practice with Japanese Sumo wrestlers.

On day 3, they had a Japanese language lessons and then took a trip to Akihabara; the center of Japanese nerd culture and anime. You can buy figure dolls and many anime related items in Akihabara. They seemed so happy to attain these.

At night, they went to watch Japanese professional baseball game in Tokyo stadium. It was almost full house and the game was pretty heated, so they enjoyed the opportunity so much.

On the last day, they went to watch Kabuki, Japanese traditional play, then to Tsukiji market and Shibuya, then Mitama festival at Yasukuni shrine. So much valuable experiences and memories they had.
